What is the GHS-MSDS?

Introduction to GHS-MSDS Service:

GHS is the abbreviation of Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, a normative document published by the United Nation for guiding countries in the world to control the chemicals hazards and to protect human beings and the environment.

To set a united worldwide classification standard—a worldwide united hazards publicity system (including labels, secrecy data table and intelligible marks).

——To provide a worldwide united intelligible system for describing the hazards of chemicals, in order to protect human beings and the environment;

——To provide an internationally recognized standard frame to the country without such system;

——To reduce the examination and evaluation for chemicals;

China plays an important role in chemical production and import/export trade in the world, Implementation of GHS will contribute to establishment of correct classification and identification systems of the chemicals in China. When the physicochemical property, the hygeian toxicological property, and the ecotoxicological property of the chemical are provided, OCI will analyze and evaluate the information. If the chemicals cannot be classified accurately due to the lack of basic data, OCI will retrieve information in the OCI database. When there is no available information in the database OCI will arrange necessary experiments.
